TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Graduate and undergraduate women students have an opportunity to develop their leadership skills through a Women’s Empowerment Conference to be held April 8-9 at The University of Alabama.
The theme of the conference, sponsored by the UA Women’s Resource Center, is “Rooted in Empowerment: Women Shaping the Future.” Elle Shaaban Magana, WRC assistant director, said the purpose of the conference is to reveal undiscovered women leaders at UA and give them the chance to network, attend workshops, participate in panel discussions, and take part in other activities designed to develop their understanding and awareness of the various routes empowerment can take in their personal and professional lives.
The event is open to 50 participants, and applications are required to attend. These are available at http://wrc.ua.edu or at the WRC on the third floor of Russell Hall.
Applications should be turned in to the WRC by March 11, and applicants will be notified of their selection by March 18. For more information, call 205/348-5040.
