Jerry Paschal Named UA Career Center Executive Director

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Jerry L. Paschal has been named executive director of The University of Alabama Career Center.

Paschal comes to UA from Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business where he was the career center director.

“We are very pleased to have someone with Jerry Paschal’s abilities and experience directing The University of Alabama Career Center,” said Dr. Margaret King, UA vice president for student affairs. “We are particularly excited about his expertise in helping students explore career possibilities and prepare for leadership positions in their fields.”

Paschal holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in education in personnel services in higher education from Clemson University.

“Building on this commitment, the mission of the Career Center is to provide students with the resources and opportunities to launch their professional lives. We will synergize career services so that we can build on related strengths within the University. Our initial goal will be to broaden our recruiting base of employers so students can maximize opportunities,” he said.

During his time at Tulane, Paschal developed access databases for tracking employers and employment statistics and worked with existing programs in Houston and New York to help provide students better access to alumni, as well as assisting his staff in developing a stronger working relationship with recruiting employers.

Paschal also served as executive director of the University of Iowa Career Center, director of the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business Graduate Program Services Career Center, and as manager of the 70001 Program, an alternative education program with an employment focus, at the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg.
