Texican President Gives $250,000 Gift to UA Crimson Tradition Fund

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Robert Blevins, president and chairman of the board for Texican Natural Gas Co., recently gave $250,000 to the Crimson Tradition Fund, a $100 million fundraising campaign for The University of Alabama’s athletic facility improvements.

Blevins said he had been a fan of Alabama sports all of his life and wanted to support the future success of these programs.

“I grew up in Alabama and have been an avid sports fan since I was a small child. I wanted to see growth in the program, and I wanted to see the athletic facilities brought to the highest standards of the SEC.”

Blevins is a native of Cullman. He graduated from the University in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts and Sciences. He currently lives in Houston, Texas.

The Crimson Tradition Fund, chaired by Paul Bryant Jr., seeks to raise $50 million from private gifts and another $50 million from the issuance of bonds. Naming opportunities are available for gifts of $100,000 or more.

Funds for the campaign are targeted for the renovation of Paul W. Bryant Hall into an academic support center for student athletes, an expansion of the football complex to include a new weight room, revitalized dressing rooms, squad room and recruiting center; new turf for the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Area, which is already completed; modernization of Coleman Coliseum, including a new lobby, coaches’ offices and concourse and seating areas; new tennis and soccer complexes; and expansion of the north end zone of Bryant-Denny Stadium.
