University Programs Named Among Top Five Campus Groups

TUCSALOOSA, Ala. — University Programs at The University of Alabama was named one of the five “2004 Best Campus Programs” for the second year in a row by Campus Activities Magazine.

Nominations for the award come from schools and performers across the country. The college programming event magazine can be seen at www.campusactivitiesmagazine.com.

University Programs is a UA student organization offering the campus a diverse range of entertainment, including concerts, comedians, speakers, performing arts and novelty/variety events. In the past year, events included Magician Mike Super, Dave Coleman, India.Arie, Gin Blossoms, Nappy Roots, Pat McGee Band, Capstone Idol and producer of The Simpson’s, Mike Reiss.

University Programs has several upcoming events for the spring semester including Dallas Brass performing on Feb. 13 and Chuck D speaking on Feb. 17; both of those events will be held in the Moody Music Building. Former Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model Ann Simonton will also be speaking about “Sex, Power, and the Media” on March 4 at the Ferguson Center Ballroom. These events are free to the UA community.
