UA Student Receives Delta Zeta Award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — April Leigh Quinn of Springville, a member of Delta Zeta sorority at The University of Alabama, was recently awarded the 2003 Florence Hood Miner Award.

The Florence Hood Miner Award is given annually to members of Delta Zeta who are in their junior year and have made the greatest contributions to their college chapter and Delta Zeta through outstanding leadership on campus while maintaining a good academic record.

The award is named after Florence Hood Miner and is in recognition of her service as national vice president, editor of The LAMP of Delta Zeta and other national offices.

Women chosen for the award are exemplary representatives of Delta Zeta’s standards of excellence in leadership, scholarship, community service and fostering the values of sisterhood.

Delta Zeta sorority was founded on Miami University’s campus in Oxford, Ohio, in 1902. The sorority has over 180,000 alumnae and collegiate members in the U.S. and Canada. The Delta Zeta Foundation, a nonprofit organization, makes possible gifts and support for scholarships, leadership, philanthropy and education.
