TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Two University of Alabama seniors were recently awarded fellowships from Alpha Lambda Delta academic honor society for their achievements in school.
Robin Marie Preussel of Tuscaloosa received the M. Louise McBee Fellowship in the amount of $5,000 for the 2003-2004 academic year. This fellowship is named in honor of Dr. McBee for her leadership and service to Alpha Lambda Delta; McBee is currently serving in the Georgia legislature.
Christin Nell Collier of Rainbow City was awarded the Warner O. Moore Fellowship in the amount of $3,000 for the 2003-2004 academic year. This fellowship honors Dr. Moore, a former UA chapter adviser, for his service as the honor society’s first male vice president and his promotion and fund raising for the fellowship program.
Members from the honor society’s 237 chapters filed 160 applications in this year’s competition. A committee of National Council members judged these applications and 23 Fellows were chosen for the 2003 competition. These Fellows represent a wide variety of educational disciplines and are composed of 8 men and 15 women from 19 chapters across the country. Since the Alpha Lambda Delta fellowship program began in 1940, students have been awarded scholarships in excess of $1.4 million.
