TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — International talent, exotic cuisine and a DJ dance party will highlight Flava Fest 2003, a new event at The University of Alabama, sponsored by the African American Association (AAA), International Student Association (ISA) and Student Coalition Against Racism (SCAR). The festival will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, from 6 p.m.-midnight at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel.
AAA, ISA and SCAR members have been working since September to organize an evening that celebrates the different “flavas” the University has to offer.
Tickets for the event are $7 and may be purchased at the Flava Fest ticket table near the Ferguson Center Food Court from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. through Thursday, Jan. 16, and Tuesday-Wednesday, Jan. 21-22.
Featured talent will include Japanese Taiko Drums, the African American Gospel Choir, South Asian Dances, Step Shows, Latin Dances and Dance Alabama. Following the talent portion of the festival, international cuisine will be served and the evening will be topped off with a DJ dance party.
