The University of Alabama honored its top students of 2002-2003 for their scholarship and leadership today during the Tappings and Awards Ceremony on the Mound, the highlight of UA’s annual Honors Week, April 14-18.
A truck mounted fuel-cell auxiliary power unit, developed by The University of Alabama College of Engineering in a partnership with the U.S. Army TACOM National Automotive Center, Ballard Power Systems, and Freightliner LLC, recently was awarded the Automotive Engineering International Tech 2003 Award for being one of the top technologies on display at the Society of Automotive Engineers’ World Congress in Detroit, Mich.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will give the keynote address at The University of Alabama’s commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the first successful enrollment of African-American students at the University this June. Kennedy’s father, Robert F. Kennedy Sr., was a key player in the desegregation of the University as U.S. Attorney General in 1963.

Dr. William Keel, professor of astronomy in The University of Alabama’s department of physics and astronomy, recently published a book “The Road to Galaxy Formation,” that will be of use to those who love to look at the stars, as well as undergraduate and beginning graduate students.
