UA’s Library Annex will Ease Storage Woes

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – An open house for the newly completed University of Alabama Library Annex will be held on Wednesday, April 30 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Ribbon-cutting and brief remarks by Dr. Louis Pitschmann, dean of UA Libraries, will take place at 2:30 p.m. The Annex is located on the corner of 12th Avenue and 14th Street, just north of the 15th Street viaduct.

University Libraries Library Annex will be used to house lesser-used materials and journals that are available in full text digital format through the Libraries Web site. The high-density shelving facility will have modern climate controls to ensure long-term library material preservation.

Materials held in the Annex will be readily accessible through the Libraries’ Catalog. Faculty, students and staff will be able to place online or in-person requests for items in the Annex, and regular service for pick up and delivery will be provided. If an item sent to the Annex is found to be in frequent demand, it will be transferred to its campus library location.
