UA Student Awarded Alpha Lambda Delta Scholarship

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alpha Lambda Delta, a national academic honor society, recently awarded a Jo Anne Trow Scholarship of $1,000 to University of Alabama student Leah Parker of Birmingham (zip code 35226) for the 2002-2003 academic year.

More than 75 students from the 230 chapters of the honor society competed. Parker, a junior at the University, was one of 35 recipients of this award. The honor society allows any member who has maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average to apply for the award. The final selection is based on academic records, recommendations, participation in Alpha Lambda Delta activities, statements from the applicant, and campus or community activities.

The award was started in 1988 to honor Jo Anne J. Trow, a past national president of Alpha Lambda Delta.
