TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Chapter of Circle K International prepares to “light up” the Quad on Sunday, Dec. 8, with its annual luminaries ceremony.
Beginning at 4 p.m., 2,500 candle-lit bags will adorn the Quad, bringing the holiday season to campus. A ceremony will also include holiday music played on Denny Chimes beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Hot chocolate will be available at no charge, although donations for the fund-raiser are encouraged. The Museum of Natural History at Smith Hall (across from the Quad) will also have an open house with a hand bells performance and refreshments.
The luminary ceremony is a 25-year tradition of the University chapter of Circle K International. This year, all proceeds will go to purchase gifts for residents of the William D. Partlow Development Center.
Individuals and businesses that would like to make a donation can mail their contribution to UA Circle K, PO Box 861954, Tuscaloosa, AL 35486.
The ceremony is open to the public.
