UA College of Engineering to Host Mining Institute

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The civil and environmental engineering department at The University of Alabama College of Engineering will host the 2002 Alabama Mining Institute on Sept. 5-6, in room 101 of the Tom Bevill Building on the UA campus.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, and sessions last until 5 p.m. both days. On-site registration cost is $40 for members of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME) and $60 for non-members, and attendance is limited to the first 100 registrants. Registered professional engineers can satisfy their annual professional development hours by attending the sessions.

Speakers will include experts from Alabama’s industries and institutions as well as federal regulatory agencies that deal with mining concerns.
