UA Army ROTC to Hold Military Ball

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Army ROTC will hold its annual Military Ball on Friday, April 19, at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Ballroom.

The ball’s theme will be “Crimson Pride” in honor of the distinguished alumni of the UA Army ROTC program.

Bert Bank will be the guest speaker. Bank was born in Montgomery and graduated from the UA Law School. Bank served in World War II where he spent 33 months in a Japanese prison camp and survived the Battan Death March. He is a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Bank wrote the book “Back from the Living Dead,” which recounts his prison experiences; he is also prominently featured in the current bestseller “Ghost Soldiers.”

The Military Ball is a traditional, formal dinner and ball for the military members of an organization or unit. The cadets will proceed through a receiving line where they and their dates will be formally introduced. The senior cadets and their dates will be officially announced as they walk through a “saber arch” provided by members of the junior class.
