
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 2002 Miss University of Alabama competition will be Saturday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Center ballroom on the UA campus.
Eighteen contestants will participate in categories of eveningwear, swimsuit/physical fitness, talent, and private interview. The winner will represent UA at the 2002 Miss Alabama Pageant in June.
Tickets may be purchased in the Ferguson Center lobby or in the ballroom lobby the night of the pageant or from any contestant.
The contestants include:
Marie Elizabeth Ammons, 18, daughter of Michele Cleveland of Madison, a freshman majoring in management entrepreneurship.
Selena Averett, 19, daughter of Dennis and Carolyn Averett of Cottondale, a sophomore majoring in broadcast journalism.
Cristy Sue Bell, 21, daughter of Thomas and Carolyn Bell of Demopolis, a senior majoring in communicative disorders.
Jessica Jane Brooks, 22, daughter of Allen and Nancy Brooks of Birmingham, a senior majoring in public relations.
Christina D’anne Cagle, 21, daughter of Doug and Suzanne Cagle of Marietta, Ga., a junior majoring in fashion design and marketing.
Fatima Carmichael, 19, daughter of George and Michelle Carmichael of Birmingham, a sophomore majoring in chemical engineering.
Rachel Elaine Carroll, 19, daughter of Greg and Debra Carroll of New Brockton, a sophomore majoring in public relations.
Kavita Janak Doshi, 19, daughter of Janak and Sohag Doshi of Vestavia Hills, a sophomore majoring in marketing.
