TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Almost 800 high school students, parents and guidance counselors will participate in Alabama Leadership Day 2002, sponsored by The University of Alabama National Alumni Association on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Bryant Conference Center.
High school juniors who excel in leadership activities were invited to participate. The UA Alumni Association believes many of these students will serve as future leaders in college.
“Our conference enhances their leadership and time management skills so that they are better prepared for their college experience wherever they attend school,” Booker Lynne Glance, the UA manager of alumni events, said.
The free leadership conference offers time management and leadership seminars, motivational speakers and interaction with other high school and college student leaders as they develop their leadership skills.
The luncheon’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Sybil Todd, vice president of student affairs. UA Student Government Association President Jonathan Macklem also will speak to participants.
The Capstone Men and Women lead the seminars and the Student Alumni Association hosts the event.
Students will participate in leadership seminars while parents and counselors participate in panel discussions about financial aid, housing, scholarships and more until the luncheon at 12:15 p.m. After lunch, participants will receive a tour of campus.
Participants in ALD will receive a certificate and a gift from UA’s National Alumni Association.
