The Office of University Relations at The University of Alabama won the nation’s highest award for media relations work in the annual awards competition sponsored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). UA Professor Publishes Collection of Essays from Famed Civil Rights Era Judge

As a federal district judge in Alabama from 1955 to 1979, Frank M. Johnson issued some of the most significant civil rights rulings in the 20th century. Dr. Tony Freyer, a University of Alabama research professor of history and law has now edited and published a collection of Johnson’s essays where the judge explains, in his own words, how he grappled with those decisions.

Wagner Descendant to Tell UA Audience of His Concern with Family Legacy

The great-grandson of 19th century German composer Richard Wagner will discuss his concerns that his family legacy continues building a foundation for fascism in a talk scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. in the recital hall of the Moody Music Building on The University of Alabama campus.

Nationally Recognized Historian Douglas Brinkley to Speak at UA

The life and times of civil rights activist Rosa Parks will be the topic of nationally recognized historian Douglas Brinkley’s lecture at The University of Alabama. Brinkley, who recently published the highly acclaimed biography Rosa Parks, will present the Star and Stan Bloom Endowed Lecture in the Blount Undergraduate Initiative Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. in the Morgan Hall Auditorium on the UA campus.

UA Offers Free Self-Defense Training Sessions
