Army ROTC Adventure Tower to be on UA Campus

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Army ROTC Adventure Tower is coming to The University of Alabama Friday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on University Boulevard in front of Little Hall, across from the Quad.

The Adventure Tower — a physical challenge, 60-feet-tall climbing tower — is part of Army ROTC’s National College Campus Tour at UA this week. Tower admission is free. The Adventure Tower was introduced during spring break at Panama City, Fla., and South Padre Island, Texas, and it was also used at the recent National Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia.

Army ROTC representatives will assist those taking the challenge and answer questions about the program. Climbers will be harnessed and will follow strict safety procedures. Free T-shirts and other items will be offered to participants.

Lt. Col. Neil Reinwald, a professor of military science at the University, expects the tower to be a success on campus. “It’s such an awesome structure and it has generated a lot of awareness among young men and women as to what it means to be an officer and to have the benefits of the ROTC program,” he said.
