TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Debra Morrison, University of Alabama assistant professor of dietetics, was recently named “Alabama’s Emerging Leader in Dietetics” by the Alabama Dietetic Association during its annual meeting.
The award recognizes a dietitian who has demonstrated leadership at the district, state and/or national levels of the American Dietetic Association.
At UA, Morrison is the director for the Coordinated Program in Dietetics based in UA’s College of Human Environmental Sciences. She currently serves as president of the Tuscaloosa chapter of Alabama Dietetic Association; is a member of its board, and chairs its newsletter committee.
The College of Human Environmental Sciences, currently the fastest growing academic division at UA, was established in 1931 as the School of Home Economics and was renamed in 1987 to reflect its growing curriculum. The school’s highly qualified faculty has resulted in its professional programs being ranked in the top 20 by the Gourman Report, a rating of undergraduate programs in American and international universities.
