Dr. Amilcar Shabazz (205/348-6339 or 205/348-5940), assistant professor of American studies and director of the African American studies program, can discuss Amendment Two which would remove the interracial marriage ban from the state’s 1901 Constitution. Although federal courts have nullified any authority such bans have, Shabazz can offer a perspective on what message voters’ decision sends.
