UA’s First “Family Weekend” Set For Sept. 22-24

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Parents and family members of University of Alabama students will be on campus Sept. 22-24 for The University of Alabama’s first “Family Weekend.”

More than 1,500 people are expected to attend the event, which highlights UA’s academic programs, facilities and services, as well as the Tuscaloosa community in general. Participants will have a number of activities to choose from during the weekend.

On Friday, parents will have opportunity to attend classes with their child and to attend open houses for UA’s libraries, health center, teaching and learning center and admission office. A Block Party, sponsored by the Tuscaloosa County Alumni Association, will start at 7 p.m. featuring an “oldies” band.

On Saturday, UA’s individual colleges and schools will hold open houses so participants can meet with their child’s dean, faculty members and staff members. UA President Andrew Sorensen will make an address on the Quad at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch on the Quad.
