TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– The University of Alabama Office of Undergraduate Admissions will host Capstone Scholars Day 2001 on Saturday, Jan. 20.
The scholarship event is designed for entering UA freshmen who are invited to attend. To receive an invitation, students must be entering freshmen with at least a 27 ACT or 1200 SAT score and a 3.5 academic grade point average.
The October ACT and November SAT test results are the last ones accepted for Capstone Scholars Day consideration.
Students must also submit a completed UA application for admission, including any required documents, by Dec. 1, although submitting applications as early as possible is preferable.
Participating students will earn priority consideration for a wide range of scholarships, including the University’s top “Tier I” and “Tier II” awards, such as Presidential Scholarships. Each participant will receive a renewable scholarship of at least $1,000 per year for four years, if he or she maintains a cumulative 3.0 GPA while enrolled at the University.
During Capstone Scholars Day 2001, participants will take part in activities designed to introduce them to the academic and cultural aspects of UA life. Tentative activities include attending typical college classes, discussing the students’ intended majors with representatives from UA colleges and schools, interacting with representatives from UA honors programs and participating in team problem-solving exercises.
