UA Students Sponsor Dance Marathon to Benefit Children’s Hospital

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Dance Marathon 2000, The University of Alabama’s first student fund-raiser for the Children’s Hospital of Alabama, is scheduled for March 17-18 from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. at the Student Recreation Center.

Modeled after similar successful events on other college campuses, the project

will support the Children’s Miracle Network, with all funds raised going directly to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. Approximately 85 participants are planned to take part in the dance marathon. Cultural foods will be served every hour, and the dance theme will also change every hour.

The marathon will begin at 6 p.m. with Big Al helping to kick-off the festivities. Children Miracle Network Miracle Families will be present for the event. Tide 101.5 and WTUG 92.9 will provide live radio broadcast throughout the event.

Students are currently seeking sponsors and support for this important project.
