UA Minority Student Convocation Committee to Hold Awards Ceremony Feb. 28

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — As part of Black History Month events at The University of Alabama, the Black History Convocation 2000 will be held Monday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the Ferguson Center.

The Minority Student Convocation Committee 2000 will present their Contributor Awards, which recognize faculty, staff, administrators, students and community members who have made worthwhile contributions to UA’s minority student population.

The Black History Convocation address will be delivered by Sen. Charles Steele, presently serving as the interim president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference for the state. This year’s National Black History theme is “Understanding Our Past, Living Today, Creating Our Future.”
