UA’s Alabama Economic Outlook Offers Glimpse of 2000; Conference Set for Jan. 27

In 2000 Alabama’s economy is expected to grow by 3.1 percent and to add about 18,000 new jobs. Most job growth will be in retailing, services, and construction. Unemployment should average 4.7 percent, slightly higher than the predicted U.S. rate of 4.4 percent. Income growth in the state will be modest.

UA Engineering Professor Receives National Award
