University of Alabama students competing at the Miss Alabama pageant held June 24-29 impressed the judges throughout the week with six earning spots in the Top 13 and three of those making the Top 5.
Incoming freshman Maddi Heath earned second runner-up, current Miss University of Alabama Marissa Luna earned third runner up and Hannah Adams earned fourth runner-up during the final night of competition. For the third consecutive year, Adams also won the Catherine Crosby Community Service Award and a $2,000 cash scholarship.
Their placement in the Top 5 earned Heath, Luna and Adams a $3,000 scholarship, a $2,500 scholarship and a $2,000 scholarship, respectively. During the week’s competition, Heath was a preliminary Talent winner earning a $500 cash scholarship and was also in the People’s Choice Top 5 alongside UA student Summer Waters, who won a non-finalist Talent award and earned a $250 cash scholarship.
Heath also earned a $500 cash scholarship in honor of Leigh Sherer Seirafi, Miss Alabama 1995.
Imani Muse, Chloe Yates and Ibby Dickson were among the students who placed in the Top 13. Dickson also earned a $300 cash scholarship as a preliminary Evening Gown winner during the week.
Additionally, UA students Carson Champion and Ashley Gattis were STEM Scholarship finalists, Mara Eva Cline earned a $250 cash scholarship as a non-finalist Talent award winner and Rylie Dewley was selected by her peers as Miss Congeniality, earning her a $300 cash scholarship.
Among the 40 participants, the Miss Alabama Organization awarded over $125,000 in cash scholarships this year.
Luna, the current Miss University of Alabama, will continue her reign until Sept. 14 when a new Miss UA is crowned.
