📣 No UA Alerts Test in May

So as not to disturb final exams, the University will not conduct a test of UA Alerts or the public address system Wednesday, May 3. The Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency will test its outdoor sirens at noon. 

📣 University Boulevard Graduation Weekend Safety Precautions

Vehicle traffic will be restricted Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, on University Boulevard between Wallace Wade Avenue and Campus Drive West and the portion of Campus Drive West between Publix and University Boulevard around 9 each night.

  • Motorists traveling to downtown are encouraged to use 15th Street, Bryant Drive or Jack Warner Parkway.

🔔 Faculty/Staff Parking May 8-Aug. 5

Between May 8 and Aug. 5, faculty/staff green and reserve permits will be valid in all commuter and residential zones, and the perimeter zone. Perimeter permits will be valid only in the perimeter zone. 

📣 New Education Dean Search Opens 

The College of Education has launched a search for its next dean. See search committee members and more details.

💡 Upgrade Windows 10 

Beginning this month, faculty and staff with Windows computers will get announcements on their computers to upgrade Windows 10 to the newest supported version, 22H2.

👉 Innovation Competition — Still Time to Enter!  

The deadline to register for the Faculty/Innovation Pitch Competition has been extended to May 6. Thousands of dollars in funding resources will be awarded to the winners.  

📣 Diversity Programming Highlights for May 

Visit the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion website to see a list of celebrations, programs and events for May, including recognition of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. 

👉 Professional Development for Campus Leaders 

The revised UA Essentials for Management Series offered this summer is intended for all employees with supervisory responsibilities. Sessions are May 10, June 22, July 18 and Aug. 16. Managers and supervisors register at UA LMS. 

💡 Renew Books by June 1

University Libraries circulation policy requires faculty members to renew all books before June 1.  

  • Faculty members with fewer than seven books to renew should take them to any UA Libraries location for renewal.  
  • McLure patrons may renew books at any of the other libraries.  
  • Due to the temporary Capstone Drive parking closure, Gorgas patrons may prefer to renew materials in person in the Bruno or Rodgers libraries.  
  • Faculty with more than seven books to renew should contact the appropriate library staff member to arrange for an office call.
