Dr. Kim Genareau is an associate professor in the Department of Geological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences. Currently, she is funded by the National Science Foundation through a CAREER grant to explore the effects of volcanic lightning on both natural and manufactured volcanic ash samples through a series of lightning experiments. Her research group conducts various studies on explosive eruptions and their interaction with the atmosphere, including ice nucleation and triboelectrification.
