The University of Alabama has received a gift of more than $580,000 from the estate of G. Louise Green, a former Cherokee County teacher. The gift will be used to endow the M. Jack Green and G. Louise Green Scholarship Fund in memory of Louise Green and her brother, also a former educator.

The University of Alabama announced today that it has raised $512 million in its “Our Students. Our Future.” capital campaign.
The University of Alabama, in conjunction with the University of Alabama in Huntsville, officially launched the new Huntsville Executive MBA program with an orientation this week.
A total of 4,793 students enrolled during the spring 2008 semester at The University of Alabama made the Dean’s List with academic records of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) or the President’s List with academic records of 4.0 (all As).
Dr. John P. McGowan has been named vice provost and chief information officer at The University of Alabama, effective July 14.
Six fellows have been selected for The University of Alabama Leadership Academy class of 2009.
The Alabama Family Rights Association, or ALFRA, helps those experiencing alienation from their children and grandchildren by encouraging non-custodial fathers and non-custodial mothers to stay involved with their children and by providing social events, moral support, group sessions, and education about divorce and its impact on families.
The University of Alabama is offering its 2008 Interim Program May 12-30, giving UA students an opportunity to experience a creative and innovative approach to learning.
