UA Announces $500 Million Capital Campaign

The University of Alabama today announced a $500 million capital campaign that focuses on student scholarships, faculty support, campus facilities and priority needs. The “Our Students. Our Future.” campaign has raised more than $299 million since 2002 and will conclude in June 2009.

UA Launching New Construction Engineering Program in Response to Industry Needs

The University of Alabama College of Engineering will offer a new construction engineering program, beginning this fall, to meet the growing needs of the industry. The program, approved by the UA Board of Trustees today, will begin accepting students for August 2006.

UA to Celebrate 175th Anniversary April 12 With Founder’s Day Program

The University of Alabama will celebrate the 175th anniversary of its founding at a Founder’s Day Program and birthday party Wednesday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m. on the UA Quad in front of Gorgas Library. The public is invited.

UA Faculty and Staff Campaign Raises $5 Million

The faculty and staff of The University of Alabama have made a major commitment to the University’s future by pledging $5 million in support of University initiatives. Included in the total is a $300,000 gift from UA President Robert E. Witt.

U.S. News Ranks UA School of Law in Top 50 Once Again

U.S. News and World Report has ranked The University of Alabama School of Law among the Top 50 law schools in the nation for the eighth consecutive year.

UA Provost Judy Bonner Promoted to Executive Vice President

The University of Alabama Board of Trustees has approved the recommendation of University of Alabama President Robert E. Witt that Dr. Judy Bonner, who currently serves as vice president for academic affairs and provost, be promoted to executive vice president and provost effective April 1.

UA Premed Students Top Southeast at National Honors Conference

University of Alabama premedical students led the Southeast in the number of representatives recently attending a convention of the nation’s premedical honor society, Alpha Epsilon Delta, in St. Louis. They were also the fourth largest chapter in the nation attending the conference of the organization, which was founded at UA in 1926.

UA Students Taking ‘Alternative’ Spring Break to Help Others

While many students traditionally head to the beach during spring break, a group students, faculty and staff from The University of Alabama have chosen to volunteer their time during this class break to help people in need by building houses in Georgia and repairing hurricane damage in Mississippi.
