People with insomnia who depend on prescription sleeping pills and who still have difficulty sleeping may be eligible to receive a sleep disorders evaluation and insomnia treatment by participating in a research study conducted by The University of Alabama department of psychology and funded by the National Institutes of Health/ National Institute on Drug Abuse.

A total of some 4,100 students enrolled during the spring 2006 term at The University of Alabama made the Dean’s List with academic records of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or above or the President’s List with academic records of 4.0 (all As).

UA Exhibit ‘Cartoonists Take Up Smoking’ on Display at National Museum of Health and Medicine

The National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington, D.C., recently opened “Cartoonists Take Up Smoking,” an exhibition of original newspaper editorial cartoons, curated by Alan Blum, M.D., a national expert on the history of the tobacco industry and director of The University of Alabama Center for the Study of Tobacco and Society.
