UA’s University Supply Store to Hold Spring Graduation Celebration March 24-26

The University Supply Store will hold its spring 2009 University of Alabama Graduation Celebration on Tuesday-Thursday, March 24-26 in the Ferguson Center Ballroom from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. The Graduation Celebration is designed to be a one-stop shopping and preparation venue for students who plan to graduate in May 2009.

UA Libraries Announces Third Annual Student Book Collecting Contest

The University of Alabama Libraries is sponsoring a Book Collecting Contest for UA students this semester. The contest aims to promote reading and interest in book collecting.

Paul R. Jones Collection of American Art Exhibit Opens at UA, Stillman College

One of the world’s largest collections of 20th-century African-American Art, the Paul R. Jones Collection of American Art, will be on display at The University of Alabama and Stillman College in March. It will be the first UA exhibition of the collection since Jones donated it to the University in October 2008.

Street Named New Trustee for Alabama Real Estate Center at UA; Five Other Trustee Appointments Renewed

John “Chip” Street Jr., a second-generation builder/developer originally from Calhoun County, has been named to the regular board of trustees of the Alabama Center for Real Estate at The University of Alabama. Street is owner of Street Residential Construction Inc.

Dean’s List Students Named at UA

A total of 5,477 students enrolled during the fall 2008 semester at The University of Alabama made the Dean’s List with academic records of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale), or the President’s List with academic records of 4.0 (all As).

UA Ranks 11th in Enrollment of National Merit Scholars

The University of Alabama continues to attract some of the nation’s most talented students, ranking 11th among the nation’s 629 public universities in the enrollment of National Merit Scholars for 2008-2009 and 28th among the more than 2,400 public and private universities nationwide. UA’s ranking is up from last year when the University ranked 12th among public universities and 30th overall.

Capstone Creed Week at UA Celebrates Integrity, Campus Values

The 2009 Capstone Creed Week at The University of Alabama on Feb. 4-11 will be the fourth annual week of events dedicated to the ideals of the Capstone Creed.
