UA to Launch Signature Health and Wellness Program

Faculty and staff at The University of Alabama will enjoy an added benefit this year — optimal health courtesy of WellBama, UA’s signature wellness program. Designed to promote health and improve the quality of life for all employees, this free, personalized program will debut at an official launch ceremony on April 14 at 11 a.m. on the front steps of Rose Administration Building.

Electronic Submission of Theses and Dissertations Now Available Through UA Graduate School

The University of Alabama Graduate School now accepts the submission of electronic theses and dissertations and encourages students to submit electronically rather than on paper. Students have the choice of either paper or electronic submission from now until Aug. 14, after which electronic submission is required for all theses and dissertations.

United Greek Council Formed at UA

The Office of Greek Affairs at The University of Alabama has announced the creation of the United Greek Council, the fourth Greek governing council on campus, joining the Interfraternity Council, the Alabama Panhellenic Association and the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

UA’s Response to NCAA Notice of Allegations

The University of Alabama appeared before the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 regarding fall 2007 violations of the NCAA’s policies regarding textbooks for student-athletes. The University discovered the violations, investigated them promptly and in detail, and immediately took corrective action to fix its textbook distribution system. After self-reporting the violations, UA has appropriately kept the NCAA and SEC apprised of its internal investigation, findings and corrective actions. The University’s appearance before the committee is part of the NCAA’s normal investigative and review process.

Oliver Elected SGA President at UA

Steven Oliver of Hendersonville, Tenn., a junior at The University of Alabama majoring in biology, was elected president of the Student Government Association for the 2009-2010 term.
