UA’s College of Communication and Information Sciences Ranked 10th Nationally in Advertising Presentations

A recent study completed by two professors at Michigan State University showed that the department of advertising and public relations in the College of Communication and Information Sciences at The University of Alabama was ranked 10th nationally in the number of peer-reviewed presentations at the American Academy of Advertising (AAA) during the past 20 years.

UA’s Bankhead Visiting Writers Series Welcomes Ralph Angel and Bei Dao

The University of Alabama’s Bankhead Visiting Writers Series will host poets Ralph Angel and Bei Dao on Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in 205 Smith Hall. The event is free and open to the public. In addition to the Oct. 2 reading, both Dao and Angel will lead an informal question and answer session in 301 Morgan Hall at noon on Friday, Oct. 3.

Forbes magazine recently released its rankings of M.B.A. programs placing The University of Alabama’s Manderson Graduate School of Business at 46th overall among full-time M.B.A. programs and 20th among public M.B.A. programs nationwide.

Common Virus is Leading Culprit in Child Hearing Loss, Vaccine Trial Underway at UA School of Medicine

Cytomegalovirus, commonly known as CMV, is the leading cause of hearing loss in children, as well as the leading infectious cause of brain damage in U.S. children. The University of Alabama School of Medicine, Tuscaloosa, is involved as a satellite site in a CMV vaccine trial and is looking for participants.

Native American Festival at UA’s Moundville Archaeological Park to Host Live Concerts

Native American performing artists, craftspeople, and musicians will entertain and educate visitors during the Moundville Native American Festival, Oct. 1-4, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at The University of Alabama’s Moundville Archaeological Park, 13 miles south of Tuscaloosa off state Highway 69.
