Sales of Existing Homes Reach Record Levels in State, Nation, According to UA’s Real Estate Research Center

Sales of existing homes in Alabama jumped 16.6 percent in December to 3,891, contributing to a record number in 2003 of 47,351 houses sold, according to figures from the Real Estate Research and Education Center at The University of Alabama. The December increase followed a small decline in November.

UA Honor Society to Offer Free Tax Aide Services

The University of Alabama chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, in collaboration with the American Association of Retired Persons, will offer a free tax aide program to UA students, faculty and the Tuscaloosa community. Beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 3, interested persons may stop by 305 Ferguson Center on the UA campus from 5-9 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for help with filing taxes.
