UA Orman-Harris Lecture March 11 to Focus on Privacy and Consumers
Patricia Faley Kachura, vice president of ethics and consumer affairs for the Direct Marketing Association in Washington, D.C., will present “Privacy: The Public Policy Issue of the Decade” for the 2004 Orman-Harris Lecture, March 11 at 2 p.m., in 104 Doster Hall on The University of Alabama campus.
UA School of Music Presents Winter Choral Showcase
The University of Alabama College of Arts and Sciences School of Music will present the Alabama Women’s Chorale and University Chorus in a Winter Choral Concert on Thursday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Moody Music Building.
UA College of Engineering Offers Summer Program for High School Students
The University of Alabama College of Engineering will host three weeklong Student Introduction to Engineering programs this summer for high school juniors and seniors who have an interest in science, mathematics and engineering.
UA Mechanical Engineering Professor Receives Award
Dr. Yuebin Guo, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at The University of Alabama, was recently selected as one of nine engineering educators to receive the 2004 Society of Automotive Engineers Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award. The award was presented at the SAE Honors Convocation Luncheon in Detroit, Mich.
Alliance for Women of Color to Meet at UA
The University of Alabama Alliance for Women of Color, a newly formed group on campus, will hold an introductory reception on March 9 at 2 p.m. in the Alston Parlor, on the fourth floor of Mary Hewell Alston Hall, for all faculty and staff interested in learning about the mission of the group and meeting other women on campus.
UA Women’s Resource Center to Host Brown Bag Lunch
The Women’s Resource Center at The University of Alabama will host a Brown Bag Lunch on Friday, March 5, at noon in the Ferguson Center Forum. All students and other interested parties are invited to attend.
UA Students Win Championship at Journalism Conference
Staff members of The Crimson White (CW), The University of Alabama student newspaper, won seven first-place awards and the on-site contest team championship during the 18th annual meeting of the Southeast Journalism Conference in Troy on Feb. 18-21.
