A place nicknamed “The Worm Shack” might seem an unlikely venue to find a nominee for the U.S. Professor of the Year, but that’s where you can often locate Dr. Guy Caldwell, associate professor of biological sciences at The University of Alabama.
Dr. E. Culpepper “Cully” Clark, dean of The University of Alabama’s College of Communication and Information Sciences, received the Communications Educator of the Year award from the Birmingham Advertising Federation.
Dr. Robert W. Halli Jr., dean of The University of Alabama Honors College, has received the Eugene Current-Garcia Award as Alabama’s Distinguished Literary Scholar for 2005.

Dr. Yuebin Guo, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at The University of Alabama, has been awarded a National Science Foundation CAREER Award. CAREER Awards are NSF’s most prestigious awards for top performing scientists and engineers who are early in their careers.
Five of the state’s leading business and civic leaders will be inducted into the Alabama Business Hall of Fame on Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Bryant Conference Center on The University of Alabama campus.
