Paul R. Jones Collection of American Art Exhibit Opens at UA, Stillman College

One of the world’s largest collections of 20th-century African-American Art, the Paul R. Jones Collection of American Art, will be on display at The University of Alabama and Stillman College in March. It will be the first UA exhibition of the collection since Jones donated it to the University in October 2008.

The University of Alabama continues to attract some of the nation’s most talented students, ranking 11th among the nation’s 629 public universities in the enrollment of National Merit Scholars for 2008-2009 and 28th among the more than 2,400 public and private universities nationwide. UA’s ranking is up from last year when the University ranked 12th among public universities and 30th overall.

UA Receives Scholarship Support from the Wachovia Foundation

The University of Alabama has received a $250,000 gift from The Wachovia Foundation to establish the Wachovia Foundation First Generation Scholarships. The first Wachovia Foundation First Generation Scholars will be selected beginning in the fall of 2009.
