UA’s Alabama Productivity Center Announces Recipients of the 2008 Team Showcase Winners

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Productivity Center and the Alabama Technology Network today announced the recipients of the 2008 Alabama Quality Award AQA Team Showcase, the state’s honor for teams that demonstrate quality and performance excellence.

The Team Showcase Awards recognizes teams for their performance and efforts to educate other organizations throughout the state on the potential benefits of empowered teams.

This year’s Silver Level winners are Huntsville Hospital’s Heparin Safety Team and Medication Reconciliation Team, Space & Missile Defense Future Warfare Center, Lean Six Sigma Cadre Team and Springhill Medical Center, Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Reduction in ICU (VAP) Team.

Bronze Level winners are Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Code STEMI Team; and Springhill Medical Center, UTI and Catheter Bloodstream Infection Reduction teams.

The awards will be presented at the Alabama Quality Award Conference and Ceremony Dec. 4 at the Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa. In addition to the presentation of awards, winners of the Alabama Quality Award will share their best practices, and Team Showcase winners will present their innovative and creative approaches to the continuous quality improvement process.

“The conference itself is an effective benchmarking and learning opportunity,” said Dr. David Miller, director of the Alabama Productivity Center. “Organizations share their best practices; teams showcase their approaches to problem solving; national award winners describe their quality-based strategies and tactics.”
