Krystal on UA Campus to Film Commercial for New Product

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A crew from the Krystal Co. will be on the UA campus Wednesday and Thursday, March 8-9 from 9:30 a.m.-dusk near the Ferguson Center Plaza and Crimson Promenade area to conduct their “man on the street” interviews for a new ad featuring Crimson Tide fans and their unrehearsed comments about the new Krystal Pup (small hot dogs).

Students and community members can try out for the new series of reality-based commercials. The company is seeking people between the ages of 18-24 for the commercial spot. The public is advised that these are reality-based commercials and not casting calls. The company is looking for what they’re calling real “Krystal Lovers” to star in the commercial.

Over the two-day period, Krystal representatives and production crews will be looking for Krystal Lovers who are comfortable hamming it up in front of the camera without a script. Krystal representatives say they are looking for friends to show up in groups. Selected participants will be treated to Krystal Pups before appearing in front of the “Krystal Lover Prompter,” a two-way video prompter that doubles as a camera used to film the commercials.

With the Krystal Lover Prompter, people interact live with a “man in a box” about themselves and Krystal. This man in a box is looking into a two-way video prompter from a remote location and the effect is that the participants completely forget they are looking into a camera and filming a commercial.

The “copy free” television commercials are scheduled to begin airing in May.

Members of the media and the general public can go online to www.krystal.com on days of shooting for exact locations on campus. In case of rain or bad weather, the production may be extended to Friday.
