DISCOVERER OF HOMO NALEDI SPEAKS MONDAY – Dr. Lee Berger, a paleoanthropologist, will present “Almost Human: The Discovery of Homo naledi” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, in the UA Biology Building auditorium. Berger is best known for his discovery of Homo naledi, as well as the excavation of Rising Star Cave. Admission is free, and seating will be first-come, first-serve. FORMER FBI AGENT TO TALK CRIME, FRAUD, CORRUPTION – Alton Sizemore, a retired FBI agent, will speak at this year’s Culverhouse College of Commerce J. Craig Smith Business Ethics Lecture at 7 pm. Monday, April 18, in Alston 10. Sizemore retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation with 25 years experience and has worked numerous high-profile cases, including the HealthSouth fraud and the Eric Robert Rudolph case. MINI MEDICAL SCHOOL CONTINUES WITH WEEKLY LECTURE SERIES – Dr. Harriet Myers, a psychologist and associate professor in the departments of psychiatry and behavioral medicine and family medicine in the College of Community Health Sciences, will present “Stress and Sickness” at noon Tuesday, April 19, as part of a lecture series for UA’s OLLI program. The lecture and discussion, which takes place at the Bryant Conference Center, will explore the physiology of stress and its underpinning as a component of many chronic illnesses, and include practice with methods to reduce our harmful responses to stress.
