
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Lissa Handley Tyson of Birmingham was named 2012 Homecoming Queen at The University of Alabama Friday, Oct. 26, during UA’s annual Homecoming Pep Rally.
Tyson, sponsored by Alpha Gamma Delta, is a senior majoring in accounting and finance.
The following students, all seniors, were selected as members of the 2012 UA Homecoming Court:
Alex Clark of Kingsport, Tenn., a public relations major sponsored by the UA Honors College/Honors College Assembly.
Kenyanita C. Ellis of Moundville, a biology major sponsored by the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
Darby N. Hess of Acworth, Ga., a communication studies and Spanish major sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta.
Lauren Whitten of Gadsden, an accounting major sponsored by Gamma Phi Beta.
The queen is crowned at halftime of the homecoming football game Saturday, Oct. 27, in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
UA students selected the queen in a general election held Tuesday, Oct. 23. Some 8,962 votes were cast in this year’s election; voting was done online through student myBama accounts.
