TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Students interested in working, serving or studying abroad this summer or fall are eligible to apply for the UA Away scholarship given by The University of Alabama Division of Student Affairs.
Scholarship applications are available at www.sa.ua.edu and are due Thursday, March 1, by 5 p.m.
The UA Away scholarship initiative funds students in need of financial support to make studying abroad possible.
Student Affairs is promoting global citizenship through opportunities to study, serve and work abroad. These opportunities give students the chance to gain knowledge and experience through one of the following:
- Study Away – Students travel to another country, city or university to study in their academic fields. The Study Abroad Program and National Student Exchange Program offer unique opportunities to learn abroad.
- Serve Away – Students volunteer for service projects, often in relation to their fields of study, which broaden and deepen their perspectives. They learn to become global citizens through their exposure to new regions and other cultures.
- Work Away – Students receive first-hand experience that increases their marketability to future employers. Participants conduct undergraduate research, participate in cooperative education, serve as interns or consult on team projects.
For more information about study away and work away, go to Capstone International online at international.ua.edu. To learn about serve away opportunities, go to the Community Service Center online at volunteer.ua.edu. Applications will be available again in the fall for serve away.
