Alabama State Troopers to show force on highway during holiday

The University of Alabama Center for Advanced Public Safety conducted a recent study comparing Thanksgiving week traffic during the past 10 years that found that several factors could impact driver safety. The study found that interstate crashes are up roughly 25 percent during the last three Thanksgiving years.

Gasoline prices are falling in Alabama

Peter Clark, a University of Alabama chemical engineering professor who follows the energy markets, says the use of a cheaper reformulated gasoline in the winter also is helping to keep gas prices in check.

Student wins HALO award for tornado relief project, meets Taylor Swift

When University of Alabama sophomore James O’Dwyer first saw the devastation in Tuscaloosa following the April 27 tornado, he knew he had to do something to help. He decided to organize a donation drive in his hometown.

Alabama wins Disney Spirit Award for efforts following storm

Alabama’s 2012 Campus Plan Includes Bryce Hospital Renovations

The historic Bryce Hospital for the Mentally Insane main building, opened in 1861, could see a rebirth but not as a hospital.  According to the University of Alabama’s 2012 campus master plan, the building could become a university welcome and reception center.

Beat Bama food drive may not meet goal

The food drive is part of an annual competition between Auburn University and the University of Alabama. The students set a goal to raise 271,000 pounds of food in this year’s “Beat Bama” Henk said. “I think we’re falling far short of that goal.”
