Regions Bank Donates Bicycles to UA’s BamaBikes Program

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Regions Bank has presented the BamaBikes Program at The University of Alabama with 25 new green bicycles.

“We are so pleased to provide these bicycles to the University. The green bicycles are more than a symbol of Regions. They also represent what it means to serve and remind us that being green allows us to go to new places – to a cleaner world, a place of financial security – and, like the University itself, provides a stable and secure place to learn, grow and reach your potential,” said Dan Blakely, Regions City President in Tuscaloosa.

The donation took place in conjunction with a Regions Bank Build a Better Bank Bike Tour through North Central Alabama to encourage customers to review their current financial situation and learn about the services Regions provides, as well as to thank the community for their business. In addition to the bicycles, Regions also donated 25 new helmets.

Regions Bank partnered with Eagles’ Wings of Tuscaloosa, a local non-profit organization, to assemble the bicycles.

“We appreciate the donation from Regions Bank. Since August, there have been 300 rentals from our existing fleet of 36 bicycles. This will assist with our demand to serve the UA community,”  said Lance Haynie, program coordinator of outdoor recreation and the BamaBikes Program.

Founded in 2006, UA’s BamaBikes program provides a low-cost bicycle rental system for the UA community. The program was developed to help students, faculty and staff move around campus in a quick, safe and sustainable fashion.
