State’s January New Construction Results Described as ‘Mixed’ in UA Center Report

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The January 2010 New Construction Report, which includes building permits and housing starts, is posted at The University of Alabama’s Center for Real Estate Web site at http://acre.cba.ua.edu/new_construction_reports.php

“The favorable news is that overall inventory continued to decline, and the pace of recent pricing declines appears to be slowing,” said Grayson Glaze, executive director of the Alabama Center for Real Estate at The University of Alabama.

The UA center, known as ACRE, teams with the Home Builders Association of Alabama to collect, analyze, store and disseminate the monthly report on the state’s home building industry.

Since 1999, ACRE has also partnered with the Alabama Association of REALTORS and continues to produce monthly reports that provide useful information associated with existing home sales and housing affordability, said Grayson Glaze, executive director of ACRE.

All monthly reports are  released to coincide as closely as possible with the release of national housing statistics, Glaze said.
