TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama students graduating in May are invited to nominate a teacher from their high school for the newly created Capstone Inspiring Educator Award.
According to Janet Griffith, assistant provost, the award will recognize high school teachers in Alabama who have inspired UA students to achieve their academic and career goals through outstanding teaching, mentoring and support.
Winners will be recognized during UA Commencement activities May 8.
“In this inaugural year of the awards program, nominations will be limited to Alabama high school teachers. Future plans include expanding the program to include any U.S. high school teacher nominated by a graduating UA senior,” said Griffith.
A UA committee representing faculty, staff, students and high school teachers will evaluate the nomination essays.
Deadline to submit a nomination is March 29.
