TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 2010 Capstone Heroes will be recognized at The University of Alabama with a ceremony on Friday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m. in the Moody Music recital hall as part of UA’s annual Capstone Creed Week, March 1-5.
The Capstone Hero award was created to honor students, faculty/staff and student organizations whose contributions to life at the Capstone reflect the values within the Capstone Creed.
Since 2005, nearly 70 individuals and organizations have been honored with this award, which is presented annually during Capstone Creed Week. This year’s honorees consist of 10 students, four faculty/staff and one organization.
The 2010 Capstone Heroes include:
Alan Blinder, a sophomore political science major from Norcross, Ga.
Anna Foley, a junior English major from Richardson, Texas
Michelle Fuentes, a political science doctoral student from Lake Forest, Calif.
Jeff Grice, a senior accounting major from Jasper
John Hammontree, a senior English major from Mt. Brook
Abigail Hardin, a sophomore apparel design major from Clinton, Miss.
Sarah Beth Henson, a senior political science major from Mobile
Caitlin Looney, a senior journalism major from Mobile
Andres Peña, a junior management major from Bay City, Texas
Frances Watts, a senior health care management major from Greenville
Kimberly Bowens, victim advocate, Women’s Resource Center
Rick Funk, senior associate director, Undergraduate Admissions
Roy Clem and Tony Humphries, WVUA

The Capstone Creed is a statement of values listed for students to abide by while attending the University. This year, a new addition to the creed, individual responsibility, will be emphasized during Capstone Creed Week.
