TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art in conjunction with the Farley Moody Galbraith Endowment will present its feature exhibition by New York artist Judy Pfaff, “2-D: An Installation of Works on Paper,” from April 19-June 21 at The University of Alabama.
Pfaff will lecture on her work on Friday, April 12, at 6 p.m. in 205 Smith Hall on campus; a reception for the artist will follow the lecture. There will also be an opening night reception on Friday, April 19, from 6-8 p.m. The public is invited to attend these events free of charge.
Internationally acclaimed artist Judy Pfaff has been described as a “collagist in space.” Since 1968, Pfaff has transformed more than 30 spaces with her elaborate installations of sculpture, prints and drawings, using an approach that is intuitive and immediate. Pfaff’s work can be found in prestigious collections such as The Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art is located in 103 Garland Hall on the UA campus. Funding for this exhibition is provided by the Farley Moody Galbraith Endowment. Funding for the gallery is provided by UA’s department of art and College of Arts and Sciences. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays, and 2-5 p.m. Sundays. Admission to the gallery is free.
