UA Women’s Resource Center Hosts Support Group

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center will host a Relationship and Violence Education Support Group for UA female faculty and staff on Wednesdays from noon-1 p.m.

The fall schedule of group topics includes:

  • Sept. 11 — Tactics of Abuse: Warning Signs
  • Sept. 18 — Why are Women Abused?
  • Sept. 25 — The Abusers Beliefs and Why Women Stay
  • Oct. 2 — How to Survive — “Feeling Crazy”
  • Oct. 9 — Abuse and Self Esteem
  • Oct. 16 — Statistics of Violence and the Media’s Role
  • Oct. 23 — Unexpressed Anger and Resentments
  • Oct. 30 — How Abuse Affects Your Children
  • Nov. 6 — Loss and the Stages of Grief
  • Nov. 13 — Healthy Relationships

All of the groups are open-ended so women are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions. The group is confidential and there is no requirement to speak. Family members and friends may attend the sessions.
