TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Dr. Peter Clark, associate professor of chemical engineering in The University of Alabama’s College of Engineering, is participating in the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Distinguished Lecturer Program for the 2002-2003 season.
Clark began the lectures in September in Utah and will continue traveling to at least 10 different states through May. He will continue teaching at UA, making his way back to Tuscaloosa for class each week. Engineers throughout the country will attend his presentations on slurry flow in hydraulic fracturing. Hydraulic fracturing is a process where a mixture of various fluids and small particles, usually sand, are pumped under high pressure into oil and gas wells to increase production.
The program recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to knowledge in petroleum engineering while keeping SPE members informed of recent developments in engineering practices and techniques.
